Because of the Help America Vote Act, electronic voting machines are now being used in many areas. Unfortunately, history has shown that machine breakdowns, miscounts, and lost votes have disenfranchised thousands of voters using electronic voting in past elections.
VotePA and the citizens of Pennsylvania call on all candidates for election in 2007 to take the following pledge to run as an ELECTION INTEGRITY CANDIDATE. These three simple points will go far to help safeguard every vote, both now and for the future.

ELECTION INTEGRITY CANDIDATE PLEDGE 1) I, as candidate for _____________ (office) pledge my pollwatchers to watch for any voter disenfranchisement or voting machine problems and malfunctions, to gather precinct level data wherever possible to assist in the analysis of elections, and to report the data and any election problems back to the Election Integrity Candidate program and through the national Election Incident Reporting System at 1-866-OUR-VOTE. 2) I, as candidate for _____________ (office) pledge in the event I am not declared the winner I will NOT concede my race until every citizen's vote has been counted, and until statisticians and election experts have had a chance to examine the results for anomalies that may indicate a result not in keeping with the will of the people. 3) I, as candidate for _____________ (office) pledge to publicly support election integrity and the accurate counting of every vote as part of my campaign platform. I promise that if I am elected to an office or position that allows me to do so, I will introduce and/or support legislation or resolution to require the use of voter-verified paper ballots or voter-verified paper records on all voting systems, with routine random manual audits of all elections. |
